¿En qué esta edición nonata es peor que las pasadas? ¿Quizá en que, criaturas irreflexivas, hemos causado la más negra herida a la Anglogalician y no sabemos curarla?

I have to admit I’m finding it hard to get excited about this one for a number of reasons. Qatar. FFS what were FIFA thinking? Many a palm has been greased to take the competition to a country with no football footprint quite apart from the appalling human rights record. I’m sure the strict rules on alcohol consumption will not go down well with the average footie supporter. How can you watch England without being pissed? “He likes your lemonade” Fuck off. Next. Too many shit teams manage to qualify. I remember when World Cups were contested by Western European Teams, all our natural enemies, like France and Germany. Easter European Teams hade up of hard men in short back and sides who looked like they had just finished a shift at the local tractor factory. Then there were the South American teams a mixture of dirty bastards and sublime football artists who always blew it if the competition was in Europe. Finally why hold it in the middle of a football season? Complete bollock...

Billy Britain’s World Cup Willies Nah then, I’ve just finished a stretch at Her Majesties pleasure in Pentonville Mansions. We’d have got away with that Post Office job if “Fingers” hadn’t have sung like a canary to the Old Bill. Bastard. Still I’m out in time to watch the football but given England’s chances I’d have been better off doing more porridge. Ok then you waaankers listen up and learn something from an expert. I’ll be down the bookies to put a brick on my predictions so I can buy a new sheepskin jacket and a Purdie. To be honest I’ve never heard of half the “teams” who have qualified. I’m sure they were all part of the Empire at one time but here goes. Toporom Stukat

Dicen que es la segunda competición más importante del planeta football Brazil - The favourites, no doubt about it. Don’t expect the flowing football of old though. This lot are bit more rough and ready like a night out in Stockton but they’ll be hard to beat especially with Lou Ferrango in the team. Will the weight of expectancy prove too heavy a burden?? This country will not accept failure. Croatia - Expect the usual mix of elegance and grit like Fer and Argie combined. Will the rarefied atmosphere be their undoing as it always has been for European teams? Will rely heavily on Mandzukic for goals but will be in the mix. Mexico - Struggled to qualify and about as exciting as a $1 taco. Last time they had a decent squad Pancho Villa was president. Will be Mexican waving bye bye at the first stage. Cameroon – This could be the youngest squad in the competition or the oldest who can tell? This isn’t the team of previous World Cups though. They will struggle to make any rea...
